Defence recently held the first of their annual Employer Support Awards events, where employers from across the Australian Capital Territory and South East New South Wales were recognised for their support of Australian Defence Force Reservists.

Applications now open for 2023 Prince of Wales Award Applications are now open for Australian Defence Force (ADF) Reserve personnel to apply for the 2023 Prince of Wales Award, in recognition of the contribution made by Reservists and their civilian employers to Defence capability.
ADF reservists and leaders talk about International Women’s Day
Ms Whelan shared her early experience in the Defence Force, which she said was a challenging environment for women at that time and opportunities were limited. "I joined the Medical Corp because it was one of the few areas of employment in the '80s where there was an opportunity for women to truly deploy on operations in a combat service support role," she said.
Prince of Wales Award Winners 2022
Reservists and their civilian employers have been recognised across Australia for their outstanding contribution to the Australian Defence Force through the Prince of Wales Award scheme. The annual awards recognise the dedication of ADF reservists and the valued support they receive from their civilian employers. The Scheme provides reservists with up to $8000 in funding to undertake training and develop new skills beneficial to their civilian career.    A strong field of ADF Reserve applications were received for the 2022 Prince of Wales Awards, with each award granted on merit.

Prince of Wales Award Winners 2020
Defence reservists and their civilian employers have been recognised across Australia for their outstanding contribution to the Australian Defence Force through the Prince of Wales Award (PoWA) scheme. PoWA is an annual scheme that acknowledges the support provided by civilian employers to ADF reservists working within their organisations. Selected ADF reservists are rewarded with the opportunity to undertake training or development that will up-skill and benefit their civilian career.
Reserves roll up their sleeves for Legacy widow
Army reservists from Unit 41 st Battalion, Royal New South Wales Regiment (41 RNSWR) have rolled up their sleeves to help clean up the overgrown garden of 92 year old Legacy widow, Mrs Myrie McPherson. 41 RNSWR joined forces with Defence Reserve and Employer Support and Legacy Australia to organise this activity. The ‘Backyard Assist’ program supports older Defence widows by making their over-grown yards more manageable for the long term.

ROYAL Australian Navy Reservist, Lieutenant Peter Velterop has welcomed an award acknowledging the outstanding support that his civilian employer has provided him throughout his military career. Chevron Australia, one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies, has won Defence’s State Employer Support Award for Western Australia large private business.
